An Examination Of The Logic of Multiculturalism
That Ukraine is in Europe and has a predominantly European population has not prevented race zealots from levelling allegations of racism regarding the reporting of the war in that country. That the Ukrainian refugees are white is a matter causing some angst, and there has been a carefully voiced agenda in the reporting of the refugees now escaping Ukraine. Some want all refugees to be able to enter the UK without a visa, and imply that fit young men paying people smugglers to invade the UK are no different to the mainly elderly, women and children refugees from the Ukraine. So why should they be treated any differently? The implication advanced is that the mainly elderly, women and children refugees from the Ukraine are White.
No matter the odds, the Ukrainian men of fighting age are staying behind to fight for their country.
The UK’s Channel 4 News recently interviewed one Marcus Ryder, who was keen to air his views on the topic. Ryder is the head of ‘external consultancies’ at the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity and is one of the founders of it. The Channel 4 News report was conducted by Darshna Soni, who, in a piece entitled ‘Is European bias affecting reporting of war in Ukraine?’, wrote: ‘There have been a host of complaints accusing media outlets of a Euro-centric racial bias, and making poor comparisons between this war and those in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.’
‘A host of complaints’? From whom?
In the Channel 4 News report, Soni asked: ‘Do words chosen uncarefully reveal an assumed hierarchy of those who merit our sympathy?’ She believed that there were double standards between the treatment of refugees from Ukraine and those claiming asylum from Syria and elsewhere in the Third World. She believed that there would now be questions as to how the UK responds to all victims of all wars. Ryder did not believe that being blonde and blue-eyed should be necessary to elicit sympathy.
Birmingham City University describes the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity thus: ‘The Centre produces independent research with the aim of boosting diversity across the media including journalism, acting, film, TV and radio, in both front-of-house and behind the scenes roles.’ In other words, it is a Black pressure group campaigning for anti-White ethnic cleansing. The trick is to pass off this pressure group’s activities as being academic research. The extent, if any, to which this enterprise is funded using taxpayers’ money is unknown. The Birmingham City University has previously been adept at helping itself to the foreign aid budget (see here), and is establishing itself as expert in the advocacy of race war politics.
For eight years Ryder worked as a ‘senior executive’ at the BBC. He recently received an MBE for services to media diversity – which says as much about those conferring such a medal upon him as it does of him.
Ryder recently complained of the sense of fear that non-White journalists have that they may be found out for supporting Black Lives Matter, taking the knee, or of even supporting Ryder himself: ‘They are worried that doing any of these things will bring their impartiality into question and by extension be used against them when they go for promotion, or worse, be used as ammunition against them in a disciplinary hearing. These fears are real.’
Ryder failed to be given a top BBC job, allegedly due to an intervention from the BBC’s director-general, Tim Davie, over concerns as to his pronouncements and views on race. The BBC denied that Ryder was blocked.
Yet Ryder is the man Channel 4 News chose to a slot so that he might air his views as to the coverage of the war in Ukraine. In an article for the Fortune magazine, Ryder wrote: ‘The main concern is whether this lack of journalistic objectivity is at least in part because this conflict involves (mostly white) European victims, as opposed to when Russia has been involved in conflicts in non-European countries, such as Syria.’
The politically correct cannot desist from their race war politics even regarding the bloody, Russian invasion of Ukraine. They seek to insert their own agenda into their reporting and impose that on us all.
