JUDICIAL ARROGANCE AND STUPIDITY

In The Hegemony of Political Correctness I wrote:

‘An insidious aspect of political correctness is the manner in which it is passed off as human rights, and the manner it has corrupted the understanding of human rights. Human rights have become the foremost of politically correct holy words, the definition of which is the preserve of the politically correct, and the judges act as the high priests. The consequence is that human rights have become perverse and even antisense.’

Of the judges, I wrote:

‘In June 2019, High Court judges enjoyed a 25 per cent salary increase, taking their pay, including allowances, to £236,126, while circuit judges enjoyed a 15 per cent increase to £161,332 per year. The Ministry of Justice claimed there was a shortage of High Court judges. Supreme Court judges’ salaries were increased from £221,575 to £282,741, while the Lord Chief Justice enjoyed an increase from £257,121 to £327,830.’

The latest abuse of judicial power occurred with the ridiculous decision by the Supreme Court that Surrey County Council should not have given permission for a firm to drill for oil without taking into account as to the pollution caused by the ultimate use of the oil. This sets a precedent that it is preferable for the UK to import oil rather than to produce it ourselves.

Such stupidity does not reduce greenhouse gas emissions at all. What it does do is damage the UK economy and hence living standards of the public. Not that the judges will in any way be out of pocket, given the thumping pay rises that they take for granted.
